Day 360 – So Early!

This is another of my flower photographs but I thought I should take  a pic of it as it is so early, certainly in my part of the world.

I hadn’t noticed it before but realise it must have been out several days already, as it was one of only two flowers out on a shrub that is absolutely covered in masses of buds so is going to look wonderful when it is supposed to be flowering!!

This Camellia shrub is usually flowering at any time between March and May, depending on what weather we have had, so to see it actually start to flower in January is amazing.  It is very cold, so it can’t be because we are having a mild winter!!

From the look of the flower it has probably been blooming for several days but there is only one other flower out at the moment on this shrub.  It’s really going to look wonderful when it all blooms, I don’t think I’ve seen quite so many buds on it before.

I wonder what happened to make two of the buds so much more advanced than all the others?

Day 343 – Spring Must Be Coming

We were on our way out and I suddenly noticed some flowers in one of our container pots.  I was amazed as it is so cold and although I don’t know what this is called, it doesn’t usually come out until March or April!!

I just hope that we will get some more of these at the usual time as they are more unusual and my favourite colour of yellow!!  🙂

Day 297 – Life Goes On

I’ve called this post Life Goes On because it was a freezing day in November and I noticed all these seedpods in the garden and as they crack open and drop their seeds, new plants will start growing in the coming Springtime.

Day 292 – November Daisies

A while ago I posted about our last flowers in the garden (Day 219) but since then these flowers appeared in November, so as that was a bit surprising I felt I had to take a pic of them before they disappeared!

There are not too many of them, so I think they just surprised themselves by coming out in November!!  🙂

Day 289 – Pretty Flowers From A Friend’s Garden

Several posts ago I mentioned a visit to my Auntie Lucy by her friends Liz and Eileen (Day 283).

When they arrived they gave me a bunch of flowers that Eileen had picked from her garden that day.  (Whenever Eileen visited Auntie Lucy at her own home before this, Eileen would always take her some flowers from her garden).

So days later, these were still looking very pretty so I took a photo of them.

Again, this is a flower photograph that I really should have taken days earlier, but it still looks pretty and I’d love to know what it is.  I keep forgetting to ask Eileen when I speak to her on the phone!!!  🙂

Day 273 – Another Beautiful Rose

As I am adding a lot of the photos that I have taken for Project 365 in blocks of several and as they were taken each day over the last couple of months or so, I am surprised at just how many photographs I have taken of flowers and birds and insects!!  Perhaps nature photography will be a new passion of mine once Project 365 is over?

So, for this particular day’s photo, it is yet another flower.  This time a very pretty pink Rose.

This is another flower that I decided to take a photograph of perhaps two or three days later than I should have – see how long it takes me to make up my mind as to whether I should take a photo of it or not!!

You can just see the outer petals are beginning to wither, otherwise I think the Rose looks lovely.

Day 245 – Gorgeous Rose

Since doing Project 365 I have been taking photographs of flowers, which isn’t something I used to do!  I try to take a photo close-up so it will look better (I think) and as I have mentioned before I am only an amateur photographer and just point the camera at something and then click.  I don’t know what settings to use that would make some things look even better when photographed.

When I saw how this photo turned out, I must admit I was very pleased with it and think it is one of my better ones so far.

The Rose was a beautiful colour, light orange or deep peach, and although I am pleased with the way it looks I feel that I perhaps should have taken the photo two or three days earlier when it would have been more fresh.

Day 229 – Amazing Where Plants Grow!

We were out and about on our travels when I noticed plantlife growing in a more unusual place than is the norm.  The pic was taken while I was sitting in our car and as we were briefly stopped in a queue!

Just amazing to see plantlife growing on top of a chimney!!  🙂

Day 219 – Our Last Flowers

I have been neglecting this photo journal for a couple of weeks because I hurt my arm and found it very difficult to do anything with it.  So I tried resting it for a while, but although much better now, it still isn’t right!

But, I have been taking photos every day, so today I am going to try and upload as many as possible.  I have about 15 daily photos to add and I just found that WordPress must be playing up a bit as the last post I wrote before I hurt my arm did not publish, it just went to Draft instead!!  So I just published it before this post so although typed and done about 5th September it probably shows today’s date.  I had noticed last time I was uploading photos that a couple of posts I had done went to draft instead of being published even though I clicked on the Publish button.  I noticed them at the time luckily, but seemingly I did not realise until today that my Day 218 post had not been published.

For this Day 219 post, I took a photograph of the last flowers in our garden.  We have not had a very good summer and now when I think about it, there have not been as many flowers as usual.  We usually still have lots of flowers in October and November, but when I looked in the garden the day I took this pic, there was just the one shrub with flowers so I decided to record it here in my photo journal.

I have no idea what this shrub is called but it is very pretty and as I write this a number of days after I took the pic, it is still hanging in there before the winter comes!!

Day 217 – Another Hyacinth

For some reason most of my last few posts show photos of nature-type things and some refer back to other posts I’ve made about similar subjects.

In my Day 201 and Day 208 posts I showed photos of two Hyacinths that seemed to have bloomed before the leaves are ready!  I thought this was quite unusual and had expected these flowers to bloom around Christmas or just after that.  But, they have bloomed already when not fully grown.

I was completely surprised to see a bit of leaf appearing on a new Hyacinth in the same pot but was more amazed at the amount of bloom there was which had all sprung up overnight!  So here is a third Hyacinth, flowering even earlier in it’s growth than the other two.

Original photograph taken by me - copyright 2011

I’m really surprised to see these all flower so soon and really hope that they will bloom again for Christmas or just after.  And since taking this photograph, I’ve noticed a tiny bit of new greenery just appearing on the surface of this pot, so maybe there is yet another Hyacinth in there!!
