Day 361 – Courtesy Car

In the year and a half or so since we have had our particular car, a Kia Hatchback something or other, there has been a little recurring problem with it.

When it gets to a certain speed (nothing too high) it starts to judder so the first time it happened Paul took it to be fixed and the mechanics had no idea what the problem was but fixed it anyway!!!  (Fixed, really)???

Everything was ok for a while, and then it started to happen again.  Again it went back to the mechanics to put right and this time they said it was a known fault, something to do with the computer workings!  (This worried me a bit as I thought maybe if the computer doesn’t work right, is it going to break down when using something important like the brakes or something)!!

We were told it was fixed.  But recently it has happened again so today, Paul took it back yet again to be fixed and because they might be keeping the car all day, they have given us a courtesy car, so I thought as a record of what was going on today, I should take a photo of it!!

While it’s is a nice little car, we are supposed to be given any courtesy car on a par with our own one because of my disabilites and being able to get in and out of it and ride in it etc..  This is much much smaller and all I can say is that it is a good job that I wasn’t planning on going anywhere today!!

A little after I took this photo we received a call that the car was ready.  So Paul went off to get it and when he returned he said they told him it was all fixed, but while driving it back, the problem still remains plus another new one!!

The new problem is that the petrol guage needle moves back and forth now while driving so you don’t actually know how much petrol you have in the tank if you really needed to know!!   So, now we have to phone them and get them to fix two problems!!!!!

Day 348 – I’m Watching You Watching Me!!

We were out and about on our travels again and Paul had parked us in the car park of a small supermarket while he popped in to get some things.

While waiting in the car I noticed a van drive up and park next to us.  The driver got out and as I looked over I saw this little chap watching me.  I could see he was wondering what I was doing watching him!!  ;-)

As I pointed the camera at him you can see we had eye and camera lens contact!!  As he was in a van he was up higher than me.  I’d love to know what was going through his mind!!

(The pic was taken through our car window and the van window, so probably isn’t as good as it should be and shows some reflections of what was around us too).

I thought the little chap was interesting sat there in his high position waiting for his daddy to come back.  :-)

Day 315 – Cheery Face

On this particular dreary and dull day we were out and about on our travels and found ourselves stuck in a queue at some traffic lights in town.

Everyone was milling about and as it was getting near to Christmas presumably a lot of the hustle and bustle and some miserable faces was to do with all the extra shopping most people do at this time.

As we were sat in the car in this queue I looked out the window and saw a cheery face that seemed to brighten everything else, so I took a photograph of it!!

Ha ha, yes, a Christmas decoration in the street, but he did look all cheery and smiley and just brightened what I was seeing around me as we were stuck in a queue,  :-)

Day 299 – Out and About At Last!

For the first time since his operation Paul has been able to drive.  So on his first day back at driving we all went out for a ride and to do some shopping.

As it was a cause for celebration I decided that I really must take a photo of anything while we were at last out and about on our travels!

So, parked up and this is what I took the photo of, a view of what was ahead of us.

Look, the town is getting ready for Christmas!!  Some of my very early photos in Project 365 mentioned the Christmas decorations from the previous Christmas still up in towns two or three months later!

I suppose these aren’t too early as it was November when I took this photo.  Time to start feeling festive!!  :-)

Day 265 – First Delivery!

This was a new thing for us, so I felt I had to record it for Project 365!!

Since Paul’s operation he wasn’t able to drive for several weeks, so we had a bit of a problem with shopping for food and so on.  We did not want to take advantage of the kindness of family and friends who did some shopping for us, so we decided to try a home delivery from one of our local supermarkets.

So, on this day, this is a photograph to record our first home shopping delivery from a supermarket!!  :-)

As you can see, Pippin thought it was interesting and unusual too, particularly as there were boxes of doggie dinner in amongst it!!  :-)

Day 119 – Welcome to the …

Again, whilst out and about on our travels on the day I took this photograph, it was yet another of those things that we have driven by but never really looked at.  You can’t really miss it and I think it is the most delightful entrance to this type of thing that I have ever seen.  :-)

So, welcome to the …

… Car Park!!   I’m amazed that the local council where this is have gone to the trouble to make the entrance to their Car Park so interesting.

Each post of this fence has a carving of a flower or insect and the words to a poem.

There is more of the poem on the left hand side, but I could not get the whole lot in for the photograph.

To show the posts of the fence better, here is part of the left hand side entrance.

Original photograph taken by me - copyright 2011

You can see the carvings of the flowers and on these posts, the names of the flowers they depict are carved above them.

I wasn’t able to note the words of the poem on this side of the fence very well, but the fence on the right hand side (top photograph) has the words:

“Fair dwellers of the fields White whisperers of the lane Sweet poets of a gentle spring I’m come to you again”.

I tried looking on the internet to see who the poet is and if they were connected to Cornwall but could not find anything like it.  If anyone reading this finds it, please leave a comment letting me know who the poet is.  :-)

Day 87 – You Don’t See Many Of These!

Once again I could not post yesterday’s pic until today!!  I was really hoping that the WordPress techies would have sorted out the gremlins problem from the last few days by now!!!  (Sigh).

This photograph was taken in haste as we were travelling along in the car, so it is not the best quality and was taken through the windscreen!!

Original photograph taken by me - copyright 2011

Such a shame that the reflection from my man Paul’s spectacles case reflects onto the rare sight of the Traction Engine!!

We had been held up for a very long time, with a huge queue of traffic and it wasn’t until we were nearing this roundabout that we saw the reason for the hold up.

The Traction Engine was trundling along at dead slow speed and because I always have the camera with me now because of this Project 365, I just had to take a pic, although very hurriedly.  It became obvious that he was going to go a different way from us, so it was a case of “now, or never” to take the photo!!  :-)

(I hate to say it, but the WordPress gremlins are still very active!!  I’ve had to juggle to get this photograph in the right place yet again.  I really hope they sort this out very soon)!!

Day 47: Claire and Andy

Today was another of those days where we planned to do one thing but the plan changed because of surprise visitors!

We were going to visit my 100 year old Aunt Lucy today but in the middle of me getting my face on for the day (doing my make-up  ;-)   )  my step-daughter Claire arrived with her man Andy.  Claire had just bought a new car and brought it over to show us!!

Original photograph taken by me today 17 March 2011 - copyright 2011

It’s a great car, just lovely for Claire to potter about all over the place in and I really like it as it is in my favourite colour, yellow.

My brother Alan also came to visit as Claire and Andy were with us, so it turned into a delightful, unplanned day!!

When they all left, we eventually made the journey to visit my Aunt and had an enjoyable time with her and so we were later back home and later having dinner etc., and now to unwind, relax and add this photograph to my photo journal.  :-)

Day 43: Paul’s New Toy!!

Today has been an absolutely gloriously sunny day, hardly any wind, really lovely but still very cold.  My man Paul treated himself to a new toy a couple of days ago, so as it was so nice, decided that he wanted to use his new toy!

Original photograph taken by me today 13 March 2011 - copyright 2011

Paul’s new toy is a Pressure Cleaner and he thought it would be easier to clean the car with than his normal elbow grease!  ;-)    But, surprisingly, he found he was quite worn out after using the new cleaner.

Our doggie Pippin decided to go and see what he was up to, but only stopped to say hallo to Paul as the cleaner machine’s noise frightened her too much.  She is frightened of many things because of her first year of cruelty before we gave her a home with us.   No, that isn’t soapsuds on her nose, toes and tail, lol, that’s Pippin’s natural markings.  :-)

And the car looks absolutely sparkling now!!

Day 29: The Prettiest Veggie Selling Trailer!!

While on our travels to the shops today we came across this vegetable selling trailer.  It was very noticeably different from most veggie selling trailers (apart from the fact that it was empty of produce)!  :-)

Original photograph taken by me today 27 February 2011 - copyright 2011

It’s got to be the prettiest, most decorated trailer that you can buy veggies from ever!!

I’m sure if there were some vegetables on it we would have stopped to buy some anyway (as well as take the photo). ;-)
