In my Day 113 post I showed a pic of my new toy, a Toshiba Laptop computer, or to be exact a Notebook.
In the shortish time since I had it I became more and more unhappy with it. It was very very slow, whatever I did with it. What I really didn’t like was that although it had Windows 7 on it, it was working all the time like Vista. I didn’t like Vista at all so there was no way that I wanted a computer that did all the Vista things like taking you to some page or other or a different thing on your computer simply because you moved your mouse!!
This new computer also had a thing where the cursor would seem to get trapped (and this could be anywhere on the screen) and no matter what I did it just would not move from wherever it appeared to be trapped and at the same time the tiniest little slider bar would appear and make the page go up and down!! The more this happened the more it annoyed me. Grrrrrrr!! Eventually after quite a number of minutes the cursor would move as normal.
What really upset me was when the computer did it’s Vista-like thing and moved the cursor to a programme that was pre-loaded into the computer before I got it, only when I was wanting to search through the list of programmes I had on the computer.
It opened this particular programme up which was connected to the internet and was not something I used at all. But as soon as the cursor went to it all by itself, my anti-virus warned me that there were 8 Trojan Viruses on the computer. I found they were in the preloaded programmes where the cursor went to all by itself.
Well, as you can imagine I was not at all happy with this. The name of the folder was Toshiba Games and they had pre-loaded this onto the computer for people to use to play games on the internet. My anti-virus programme got rid of the Trojans and I deleted the folder of Toshiba Games.
Worse was to come – a day later, my anti-virus programme then informed me that it had detected over 400 threats attempting to get at my/my computer’s identity details. I thought this must have come from the Trojan things in the folder I had deleted and so I contacted the people we purchased the computer from and told them about all this.
So, on the day this pic was taken, the new toy was being returned!!

I’ve taken out their address and our address as I didn’t want that all over the internet. But the parcel has gone now and goodness knows what they will do with the computer. We are not having it back, not having another from that place and hopefully they don’t pass it on to someone else.
I had the feeling that it had been sold to someone, they had tampered with it and returned it to them and then they sent it to us as new. This makes me wary of getting another one now.
