Day 278 – Auntie Lucy’s 101st Birthday

On the day I took this photo it was Auntie Lucy’s 101st Birthday.  We just had a little family gathering this year, so a little quiet “do” for her.

A year before this Auntie Lucy had a big party for all her family and friends where she lives.  She was on the go all day and on into late evening.  Everyone marvelled at her energy and just how active she was.  She had been excited leading up to her 100th birthday as so many people stopped her in the village where she lived and marvelled with her at her wonderful age.

So for Auntie’s 101st birthday it was much more low-key, mainly because she wasn’t quite so well and quite weak especially with not eating or drinking much.

She did manage a bit of birthday cake and we all had a lovely day. 

Day 231 – Paul’s Birthday

On the day this photograph was taken it was Pauls’ Birthday.  During the day we were visited by Paul’s son Clive with his partner Shelley and their children Sirenna and Logan.

Paul’s daughter Claire visited us in the evening with her partner Andy and my brother Alan also visited us so we had a lovely, busy day seeing everyone.

We already had a birthday cake for Paul, but his grandchildren bought this cake so we had to stick some candles on it and take a pic!!  It seems dreadful to cut up such a wonderful cake but we did and it was very tasty!! 

Day 122 – Birthday Gal

 

Today is our pet doggie Pippin’s 8th birthday.  We always feel her birthdays are very special because 7 years ago, if we had not given her a home with us, the RSPCA who had rescued her from a year of terrible, cruel abuse were going to put her to sleep because they just did not have the time to devote to her for the help she needed to get over what had happened to her.

So, if we had not taken her to live with us, she would not be here now and would not have had the last seven birthdays.  She’s still frightened of things but a much more confident and very happy gal.

We gave her two new toys today, one is called Freddie Flea (that’s on the label and the makers added that it gives dogs a chance to bite back, lol). The other toy is a tugger thing with what looks like the head of a cute cow!!

Pips had great fun playing with her new toys and this photograph is of her having a rest with her new playthings after all that playing about with them.

Shortly after this photo was taken, Pippin was snoozing with her head on the new toys.  Aaaaaaah!

 Pippin has a collection of toys now and they all have a turn being played with.  She has two or three particular favourites, but the others are never forgotten.  I wonder if Freddie Flea will end up being a particular favourite? 

Day 108 – Assignment – Radiating Lines

Since we are not out and about today I thought I would go with whatever assignment was given at The Daily Shoot again.

Their Assignment:  Make a photograph that features radiating lines today.

Some of the photos that people have added to that site today show things like inner wheel spokes, coloured wires, lines on the back of a shell, sun rays on an ornament, palm tree branches and various other things.

I hunted about the house to see what I could come up with, and then spotted this:

Well, yes it is a gift decoration – I had it nearby for a soon to be given birthday gift – but it does have lots of lines on it and they are radiating out from the centre, so I think it is a pretty good example of what The Daily Shoot wanted for the assignment today. 

Day 15: It’s My Birthday!!

Yes, it’s my birthday today and it’s been a lovely day.  Visitors, phone calls, cards, presents and flowers, lovely!!

 This is just a selection of some of my birthday cards, the flowers and the cake.  The cake is a sponge with white chocolate and cream decorated with milk chocolate stars, mmmmm, yummy!!

The card with the dog on it was painted by my 100 year old Aunt a week or so ago, which she did specially for my birthday card, as we have a black doggie, Pippin.

There’s not much left of the cake now. 

Day 9: Mum’s Birthday 2011

Today is my dear Mum’s birthday.  We spent the afternoon and early evening with her, had a lot of giggles and she made some mince pies for us!!
