Day 365 – Full Circle!!

Well, here we are on my final post for my last photograph in Project 365!

A year ago I started this photo journal and Project 365 with a photo of my brother Alan, my Mum and my man Paul at Alan’s new home on the day he moved into it.

So, to bring my Project 365 full circle, today we went back to Alan’s home where I have taken a photograph of Alan with Paul and this time with my 101 year old Auntie Lucy so I could take this photograph to end the Project.

Alan, Auntie Lucy and Paul are holding the numbers 365 to represent the 365th photo in my Project 365.  I’m thinking now, on seeing the photo on my computer, that perhaps I should have had them hold the numbers closer together, but at least, it is still symbolic for this last pic for my Project!!

What will I do tomorrow?  No photo to take!!  ;-)    It might be good to have a little rest from taking photographs especially as in reality I have taken many many more than the 365 photos included in this photo journal.

I have enjoyed doing Project 365 although sometimes it has been a little difficult to find something to take a photo of.  I hope most of the pics I show here are fairly interesting and perhaps I will take some time perfecting my photography so I can give Project 365 another go some day!!

I have made some new friends along the way because of doing this Project, so that in itself has made it worth doing.  I think some of my photos have turned out well, so I can maybe give myself a little pat on the back for those.  I have become very interested in nature photography, especially birds, flowers and clouds, so maybe I will go out and take more photos of those, just because …  :-)

Thanks go to my family and friends who have appeared in some of these photos.  I know sometimes they didn’t always feel like having the camera pointed at them so I could take a photo for those particular days.  They have all been very patient with me and supported me with this which I do appreciate very much.

Even Pippin and Demelza would see the camera and just know that I wanted to take their pic.  They were both very good and let me take oh so many photographs of them.  :-)

I shall now sit back and maybe browse through my photo journal and just enjoy my photographs and hope those of you looking at this will enjoy browsing through them too.

Until my next Project 365 …   :-)

Day 364 – Not Ready Yet!!

When I first started my Project 365 and was preparing this photo journal to add all the photos, I spent a day getting the banner ready for it which I think was then my Day 2 or Day 3 (so long ago I can’t remember now without looking it up  :-)   ).

Today, I have been working on making something I want to include in my last photo tomorrow for Day 365 and so have taken a photograph of the bits and pieces I am using today for this.

I haven’t quite finished what I am working on for it to be included in tomorrow’s photograph, so am now racing against time to get it done!!

I can’t quite believe that I now only have one more photo to take to bring my Project 365 to an end tomorrow.  :-)

Day 228 – Aye Aye Cap’n!!

On the day I took this pic we were out and about on our travels.  We went on the car ferry over to St. Mawes and I thought the Captain had a sort of longing look in his expression as he waited for all the cars to get on the ferry.

He was looking down the river, which was looking rather beautiful on this day, and it’s almost as if he was wishing he could take the ferry up there rather than back and forth across the river!

I expect he gets a bit fed up just going back and forth on the short journey across the river.  No wonder he was looking as if he really wanted to sail the ferry in the direction he was looking!

I told a little fib!!  He’s not really the ferry captain, although he does travel on the ferry all the time.

He’s actually a life-size sculpture, really quite wonderful and he manages to withstand all weathers!!  Here he is in closeup.  :-)

Day 227 – Water!

Ha ha, this is me trying to be clever!!   I had seen dotted about on the internet, photos of running water, water splashes and some clever shots with water as the main subject.  I had also seen a while ago that one of the assignments at The Daily Shoot had suggested people take a clever pic of some water.

On the day I took this pic I thought the rain water trickling down the windows looked as if it would suit a “watery” pic.  :-)

So, here it is, raindrops keep dribbling down my windows!!

You’d never guess that the light patch outside the window is a Dove sitting in one of our apple trees would you?  ;-)

Day 167 – Assignment – TGIF!

Because I have had this awful cold and a touch of laryngitis I have not been able to go out much at all, so it’s not easy to keep finding things to take pics of at home!  I decided that for yesterday’s post I would do one of the assignments at The Daily Shoot as I had not done one for a while.

For yesterday the assignment was:  TGIF – To celebrate the end of the week, make an artistic shot of your favourite beverage or libation today.

Well I don’t know if it is an artistic shot, but here’s my favourite beverage – a good cup of tea … or two, lol.  ;-)

Original photograph taken by me - copyright 2011

For many years I have drunk my cups of tea when they are warm or cold.  This stemmed from where I was working in my very early twenties and we were always so busy I never got around to drinking tea or coffee until it was almost cold.  I suppose it became a habit and now I cannot drink it when it’s hot.

Needless to say, that sometimes because I haven’t managed to finish a cup, another has been made (by either my man Paul or me) and so sometimes there is a queue of cuppas, as in this pic.  ;-)

Day 137 – The Minack Theatre

Yesterday we were out and about and went to have a look at The Minack Theatre.  This is an open air theatre, built many years ago, I think maybe the 1930s or thereabouts.  It sits on the side of a cliff overlooking the sea and lovely views to one side.

Although this is June, supposed to be summertime, yesterday was wet, windy, dull, cold and really like a winter’s day.

Despite the weather the performers in yesterday’s afternoon show at the Minack continued and for a while the sun decided to shine.  The Minack does not cancel any day time or evening performances unless the weather is extremely bad.  So as it is open air, those in the audience suffer the weather, whatever it is, just like the performers.

But it is a beautiful place, just lovely.

As can be seen from the photo the audience sits all up one side of the theatre, they get to sit very high indeed and there are lots of steps dotted about the side of the cliff so they can climb down to their seats if they choose to sit lower down.

I had to stay at the top as being disabled there is no way I could clamber down or back up any of the steps.  But it is possible to see all the performance and the sound is very good.  It’s a beautiful place!

Day 114 – Busy Gal!!

Following on from the theme of my Day 113 post, I have been quite busy today sorting out some of my graphic files for my Paint Shop Pro programme on my main computer, so I have had to ignore my new laptop today!!

My PSP programme has all sorts of things in it that I can use for when I play about with graphics such as brushes, masks, filters, shapes, selections, gradients  and all sorts of things.  But where I have collected some of these things from the internet, I have them dotted about all over the place on my computer, rather than where they should be within the programme.

I set about tidying it all up today and then because there was so much, I decided that I had better back it all up on my external hard drive.  It was then as this was going on that I saw I have 689 filters!!  There were nearly 400 masks!!  Not to mention the hundreds of other files for the other bits and pieces I use for the programme.  This rather surprised me, I had no idea I had so much stuff!!

As I have been busy with that today I took a photograph to show what I had been doing today.

Original photograph taken by me - copyright 2011

Ha ha!  Now that is tidy!!  :-)    Now I know where I can find things for when I want to use them in my PSP prog!!

Because I was so amazed at how many files there were and even though I backed it all up on my external hard drive, I decided that I would copy it all to my Dropbox out there in cyberspace.  That was this afternoon and now I am writing this after 10.00pm and my Dropbox is still copying the files from my computer!!  It has been moving over 3500 files or so and at this moment still has 367 more to move and tells me it will take 4 hours!!

I think I will have a break from the computer tomorrow and catch up with some genealogy.  ;-)     Aaaaah, but I’ve got my new laptop to play with too.  Decisions, decisions, decisions!!

Day 110 – Art Exhibition Time

In ten days time the St. Mawes Art Group Exhibition will begin.  Every May they hold an Exhibition and then another longer one during August and September.

My 100 and a half year old Aunt Lucy is an artist and has been a member of the St. Mawes Art Group for about thirty years or so, and has had her paintings in the twice yearly Exhibitions from the first year she joined them and has not missed a year since.

This year is no exception so she is getting her new paintings framed in readiness to label them and pack them up to go to the latest Exhibition.

My man Paul has made frames for my Aunt’s paintings in the past, but now cannot do that any more because of arthritis.  But he is happy to put the paintings into other frames for my Aunt and that is what he was doing today when we visited her.

You can see part of two paintings at the bottom of the photograph.  My Aunt painted those in the last couple of weeks.  Not bad at all in view of her age and it’s wonderful that she is so active still and painting some lovely pictures.

Day 102 – Peony

For my photograph on Day 94 it showed a Peony bud and I mentioned that my man Paul had suggested that I take a pic every day of the bud until it actually blossomed into a flower, so I mentioned in my post that I would do that but only show the flower when it had bloomed, and not all the pics of the bud on a daily basis.

Today the bud was at last a proper blooming flower, but sadly I don’t think it will last too long as the very strong gusty winds we are having at the moment are already making it lose some of it’s petals!!

Here is the photo of it at last, but I have added each daily pic I took of the bud to it so it is all in one photo.  I have also added numbers to show the order of the growth of the bud and included the first one again that I put in this photo journal on Day 94.

Day 100 – Assignment: No Obvious Horizon

A fun graphic designed and made by me - copyright 2011

Wow!!!!  This is Day 100.  I’ve been taking photographs every day for 100 days.  What a milestone.  :-)   :-)   :-)

I thought that as this is a kind of special day, I ought to take a photograph completely unplanned and so decided to see what the assignment was for today at The Daily Shoot.  This is their assignment for today:  Make a photograph with no obvious horizon.

I took this to mean that it had to be an outside photograph – well, we don’t really see horizons indoors – and so the photograph below is my attempt at taking a photograph with no obvious horizons.

Original photograph taken by me - copyright 2011

This was our view at the top of a hill before coming into Penryn, on our way to Falmouth today.  It was taken from inside the car, through the windscreen as we were driving along, so it probably isn’t as clear as it should be.  As there was a couple of cars in front of us, I did not want them in the photo, so had to lift the camera a little to take the photo over the roof of each car!!  I hope the point of view in the photograph shows that there was no obvious horizon.
